The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is soliciting public input on its 12-year transportation program through an online survey, which remains open until May 29. Developed by the Pennsylvania State Transportation Commission (STC) in partnership with metropolitan and rural planning organizations, the state's transportation program provides a guideline for multimodal transportation in the state across 12 years, divided into three four-year periods.It calls for investing more than $680 million in freight rail improvements and $2.6 billion in public transit infrastructure.At present, more than 2,100 Pennsylvanians have participated in the survey, PennDOT officials said in a prepared statement. Participants have called for bridge repair and replacement, as well as reducing fatalities through safety and infrastructure improvements.
