Progressive Railroading to present webcast on European Union rail marketplace on June 8

Next month, Progressive Railroading will present a webcast on the European Union (EU) rail marketplace. Titled “The Transformation of European Union Railways,” the event will held June 8 at 11 a.m. (EDT).
The webcast will offer perspectives on the changing role of rail throughout the EU and provide insights on both freight- and passenger-rail services. Jeremy Drew, a partner with Harral Winner Thompson Sharp Klein Inc., will be the presenter and Progressive Railroading Editor Pat Foran will serve as moderator.
Over the past 20 years, EU railways have been transformed through privatization, especially freight railroads, and through franchising of passenger services. The procurement process also has been evolving as railroads no longer automatically purchase products and services from national suppliers. In addition, the EU is experiencing significant growth in the market share of new freight-rail entrants.
The webcast will review ownership, financing and management among EU companies; the EU’s policy to create a single rail market by allowing operators — private or public — open access to infrastructure; and the increasing opportunities for foreign investment in the EU’s rail and supply industries.
For more information and to register for the event, which costs $199, follow this link.
