Siemens Transportation Systems recently awarded a $10.4 million contract to SAB WABCO to supply brake and coupler systems for 42 three-car trains Siemens is building for Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp. (KRTC).

The brake systems include brake control, air generation and bogie brake parts. SAB WABCO also will supply complete automatic and semi-permanent coupler systems featuring its PROPACT® automatic coupler.

The equipment will be produced at SAB WABCO’s Italy, France and Germany facilities. Delivery is scheduled to begin late this year and be complete in 2007, when KRTC’s new commuter-rail system is expected to begin service.
