Sacramento Regional Transit District (SACRT) is celebrating the first anniversary of opening the South Line light-rail extension.

The 6.3-mile, $222 million line includes seven stations and three park-and-ride lots. The line already has exceeded ridership expectations by logging 10,000 weekday passengers. Agency officials originally projected the line would attract 8,100 daily passengers by 2005.
