UP shuffles senior-management deck

On May 27, Union Pacific Railroad announced five senior-level management changes:


• Vice President and General Manager-Automotive John Kaiser, who's served UP for the past 18 months, was named vice president and general manager-intermodal;

• Vice President-Purchasing Eric Butler was named vice president and general manager-automotive. A 17-year UP veteran, Butler previously served in various capacities, including vide president-supply, vice president-planning and analysis, and director of corporate compensation;

• Vice President-Planning and Analysis Joseph O'Connor Jr. was named vice president-purchasing. A 16-year UP vet, O'Connor previously has held several titles, including vice president and controller, and vice president-bulk products;

• Chief Mechanical Officer Joseph Santamaria was named regional vice president for the Class I's eight-state central region. A 12-year UP vet, Santamaria previously served in various positions, including director of locomotive shops-North Little Rock and general director of locomotive maintenance; and

• General Director of System Shops and Locomotive Distribution Barry Kanuch was named chief mechanical officer. A 21-year UP vet, Kanuch has held several positions, including shop director in North Platte, Neb., and Little Rock, Ark.
