UP to bolster track in Wisconsin

Union Pacific Railroad continues to launch maintenance-of-way projects funded by this year’s $2.6 billion capital spending budget. The latest one: a more than $9 million trackwork project aimed at upgrading a line from Milwaukee to near Lebanon, Wis.

To be completed by November’s end, the work is divided into two projects on a more than 40-mile stretch of track. Crews will remove and install more than 33,000 ties, replace about 24 miles of rail and replace surfaces at 57 grade crossings.
