Union Pacific Railroad is spending $6 million to improve a line between Kansas City and Jefferson City, Mo.

To be completed on April 8, the project calls for removing and installing 10 miles of rail in various curves.

Since 1999, UP has invested more than $400 million in track capacity and other projects along the corridor, which long has had constrained capacity. This year, the Class I is budgeting $2.8 billion for capital projects, including $1.8 billion for infrastructure improvements.
