Today, Union Pacific Corp. announced that Vice Chairman of Operations Dennis Duffy will retire in fall.

Duffy joined the Class I in 1973 and held various positions in the finance, marketing and sales, and operating departments. He is the longest-serving head of UP’s operating department in its history, according to the railroad.

UP appointed Lance Fritz executive vice president of operations, effective Sept. 1, to succeed Duffy. Most recently vice president of operations, Fritz will be responsible for all aspects of UP’s railroad operations.

Fritz joined the company’s marketing and sales organization as vice president-energy in 2000. He previously served as regional VP-northern region, regional VP-southern region and VP-labor relations.

UP also announced that Diversity MBA Magazine named Assistant VP-Strategic Sourcing Jacqueline White to its 2010 list of Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive and Emerging Leaders. The railroad industry’s sole honoree, White was recognized for various factors, including corporate leadership, scope of responsibility, civic achievement and advanced degrees, UP officials said in a prepared statement.
