In May, Union Pacific Corp. expects to begin transferring more than 1,000 workers from the company's St. Louis facilities to its new $260 million headquarters in Omaha, Neb.

UP originally planned to relocate between 500 and 700 employees to Omaha, mostly those working in accounting, finance and customer service. Now, the company also will transfer 300 information technology workers employed by UP subsidiary Transentric L.L.C.

A business and supply-chain management software and service provider, Transentric has been headquartered in a St. Louis suburb since it was formed in 1987.

The 19-story, 1.1 million-square-foot "Union Pacific Center" officially is scheduled to open in August, but UP expects to begin occupying some of the building's space in late spring.
