CenterPoint Properties has landed a large tenant for a Union Pacific Railroad-served logistics park in Joliet, Ill. Yesterday, the real estate developer announced that Stepan Co. signed a build-to-suit lease for a 217,712-square-foot building on a 16.5-acre site in CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Joliet.

Stepan Co. produces specialty and intermediate chemicals used in household, industrial, personal-care, agricultural, food and insulation-related products. The company cited the intermodal center’s transportation advantages as a primary reason for locating its building in Joliet.

UP is building a 785-acre intermodal terminal in the logistics park that’s designed to handle about 500,000 containers annually. The terminal’s initial phase is expected to be completed in June.
