Updates from 10East, Bombardier, Thermo King and Motion Sensors

• 10East Corp. announced that Montana Rail Link (MRL) recently chose the RailDOCS™ Preventive Maintenance Management System (PMMS) to support preventive maintenance and government compliance functions in the signal department. MRL will begin using 10East’s Tests and Inspections and Configuration Management Systems, and is determining whether to use other components in the coming months, such as the RailDOCS™ Plan Management Program and Software Management System for Critical Signal Software.

• Bombardier Transportation won a $148 million contract from the Victorian government in Australia to build 32 additional VLocity DMU cars. To be supplied as a mix of two- and three-car units, the vehicles will be delivered from 2010 through 2011. The new cars will be operated as part of V/Line Passenger's regional-rail fleet. The order will bring the number of stainless-steel VLocity DMU cars operated by V/Line Passenger to 134.

• Thermo King Corp. has named Reed Hooks business development manager for the shuttle, school bus and coach businesses. He joined Thermo King in 2007 as a district service manager. Hooks has 10 years of engineering experience and has spent more than 20 years in the transit market. Thermo King provides transport temperature control systems for rail cars, trailers, truck bodies, buses and shipboard containers.

• Motion Sensors Inc. has developed the in-house capability to provide vibration testing services for rail, transit, military and aerospace applications. The company will test small- to medium-size payloads over a frequency range from 2 Hz to 3000 Hz and higher. The in-house testing capabilities will enhance Motion Sensors’ ability to optimize speed sensor design for most harsh environments, the company said.
