• 10East Corp. announced that the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Co. and Belt Railway Co. of Chicago have chosen the RailDOCS™ Preventive Maintenance Management System (PMMS) to support preventive maintenance and government compliance logistics for their signal requirements, including the Tests & Inspections System and Configuration Management System. Other regional and short-line RailDOCS customers include the Indiana Rail Road Co., Providence & Worcester Railroad Co. and Alaska Railroad Corp.

• Trinity Industries Inc. reported fourth-quarter revenue of $883.8 million and net income of $44.8 million compared with $1.1 billion and $78.3 million, respectively, in fourth-quarter 2007. TrinityRail shipped 7,050 rail cars and obtained orders for 1,180 cars in the quarter. As of Dec. 31, TrinityRail’s backlog stood at 8,260 units valued at $720 million vs. 31,870 units valued at $2.7 billion on Dec. 31, 2007. Trinity Industries Leasing Co.’s rail-car fleet increased by 3,940 units to 47,850 cars compared with 36,090 cars on Dec. 31, 2007. The fleet’s utilization rate was 98.6 percent in the quarter vs. 99.2 percent in fourth-quarter 2007.

• Alstom has appointed Christine Bénard vice president and head of strategy to succeed Stéphane Le Corre, who assumed a new position within Alstom’s power service unit. Bénard most recently was director of Oliver Wyman’s automotive division. She previously served Valeo in various capacities, including managing director of the climate control division for southwestern Europe, group VP-purchasing and purchasing director of the security systems branch.

• The Hub Group Inc.’s Unyson Logistics division will provide logistics management services and technology for Big Lots' North American supply chain. Unyson Logistics will manage all transportation, excluding parcels, to and from Big Lots' North American facilities.

• DRI Corp. announced its Mobitec Group in Sweden is entering the Russian transit market. DRI provides digital communications products to the public transportation and transit security markets, including transit rail and bus.
