• Hanson Professional Services Inc. recently was awarded an indefinite delivery contract for worldwide railroad and roadway design and evaluation services from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transportation Systems Center, based in its Omaha, Neb., district. The multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract includes planning, studies, analysis and design services for railroads, bridges and specialized railroad support facilities, as well as roadways. In addition, Hanson will manage nine subcontractors.

• The Dow Chemical Co. plans to introduce the TRAXSYS Rail Boot System in North America at the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association's conference and exhibition to be held in Orlando, Fla., Aug. 29-Sept. 1. The TRAXSYS system is designed to reduce noise and vibration while offering track support and electrical insulation.

• Insurance broker and risk adviser Marsh announced three appointments to its recently launched Global Rail practice. Jim O’Hara was named senior vice president. He previously was SVP in Aon’s national rail practice. John Durante, who also was named SVP, previously was a vice president and sales leader at Aon. Michael Snee, who was named vice president, previously was an assistant vice president and client manager for Willis.

• Mallory Alexander International Logistics has expanded its third-party logistics operations by partnering with Charles Kendell Freight to open a new office in the New York City area. The new office provides various third-party logistics services, including freight forwarding, customs brokerage, truck brokerage, special project transportation and supply-chain consulting services.

• USA TRUCK Inc. announced it has entered into a long-term agreement with BNSF Railway Co. to move private 53-foot domestic intermodal containers. The company plans to make the private containers available to its customers immediately.

• MTU Detroit Diesel was named one of “Metropolitan Detroit’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” by the Michigan Business and Professional Association. MTU Detroit Diesel now has received the designation for the third consecutive year. This year’s competition included more than 1,000 employee nominations representing 367 companies. Winning companies were determined by the results of independent research that evaluated each company in several categories.
