• Nordco Inc. has expanded its online parts information and resources by adding an “All-Inclusive Machine DVD” to its website. The online database includes searchable mechanical, electrical and hydraulic data on all current Nordco maintenance-of-way equipment, as well as many of the company’s older machines. Previously available only on DVD, the database now can be accessed in the "parts" section of the website.

• Tim Bennett was named HDR’s client manager for Union Pacific Railroad. He will oversee and coordinate all of HDR’s work for UP. Bennett has 25 years of engineering experience in the freight-rail industry. He recently served as lead civil engineer for UP’s Sunset Route double-track project.

• GATX Corp. appointed Robert Zmudka vice president and executive director of North American sales. He will be responsible for all GATX rail-car sales activities in North America. Zmudka joined GATX in 1989 and most recently led the sales team responsible for all North American railroads and Canadian industrial accounts.

• M.C. Dean Inc. was contracted by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) to upgrade its fire protection system. MARTA will fund the project by using $32 million in grants from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

• Kenco Management Services has named Jeff Tanner vice president of safety and security. He previously served as the company's director of corporate safety and security. Tanner will be responsible for safety and security at all of Kenco's companies, according to a prepared statement.
