• RailComm has been selected to provide remote control for one of New England Central Railroad’s bridges. RailComm's Doman Operations Controller (DOC®) System, currently used to dispatch the railroad, will be modified to include bridge control. In addition, RailComm will build a secondary communications link that will be outfitted with a cellular communication link to the office.

• Wi-Tronix L.L.C. is moving to a new, 13,500-square-foot office, research and development and manufacturing building in Bolingbrook, Ill., company officials said in a prepared statement. The new location, 631 E. Boughton Road, will support Wi-Tronix's growth as it enters its seventh year of operation, officials said. The company provides wireless monitoring products and services for the rail, marine and other industries.

• Axion International has been awarded a second order to install its thermoplastic ties, which are produced from recycled plastic, in Calgary, Alberta, which operates 28 miles of track for light-rail vehicles. In early 2009, the city ordered and tested 60 Axion ties, which met performance standards for the winter freeze cycle, Axion officials said in a prepared statement. The new ties will be integrated into an at-grade intersection.

• Spectrum Infrared announced that Evansville Western Railway/CSX Intermodal Terminals will implement the Spectrum RRSH track switch heating system at a new intermodal terminal under construction near North Baltimore, Ohio, that's part of the National Gateway project, according to a prepared statement from Spectrum. The Spectrum RRSH provides a fully integrated control system, eliminating the need for wayside control panels, company officials said.

• Ryan Kassenbrock has been promoted to the new position of director of operations support at Professional Transportation Inc., which provides crew transportation services to railroads. He joined the company in 1999 and has held increasingly responsible positions as staff accountant, financial analyst and operations support manager.

• The firm of Burns White Attorneys at Law has hired former Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Stallings to chair the firm's white-collar criminal defense practice. Most recently a sole law practitioner (2008-2010), Stallings served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Southern District of Florida in Miami. Stallings will be based in the firm's Pittsburgh office.
