Watco appoints short line GMs, regional transload director

Watco Transportation Services recently named John Peek general manager of the Timber Rock Railroad and Christopher Slasinski, general manager of the Alabama Warrior Railway.

Peek, who will assume the position on April 4, most recently was GM of the Alabama Warrior Railway. Since joining Watco in 2005, he has served as engineer/conductor, assistant trainmaster and trainmaster for the Alabama Southern Railroad, and trainmaster and assistant GM for the Alabama Warrior Railway. Peek previously served CSX Transportation in various capacities and managed a construction firm in New Orleans.

Slasinski, who will succeed Peek as the Alabama Warrior Railway’s GM on April 1, previously was marketing manager for the Alabama Southern, Alabama Warrior, Baton Rouge Southern, Mississippi Southern and Vicksburg Southern railroads. Prior to joining Watco in 2008, Slasinski held various positions at Norfolk Southern Railway and RailServe.

Meanwhile, Watco Transload and Intermodal Services named Jimmy McClain director of the South Region. Most recently GM of the Oklahoma City, Okla., transload facility, he joined Watco in 2009 as a shift supervisor at a Stroud, Okla., facility.
