Although rail is one of the safest ways to transport hazardous chemicals, it’s important to be prepared in case a disaster occurs. A chemical leak in a rail car's valve or fitting connection can be hazardous not only to rail personnel, but also to the environment and nearby residents. So, Midland offers the B-243 Emergency Response Kit, which is designed to allow for the quick and safe capping of leaking fittings and valves on the top of pressurized rail cars in the event of a chemical leak. The kit features five different cover cans with gaskets that cap leaking valves or fittings; a complete set of industrial-strength tools that are required to apply cover cans; and a bridge that’s needed to secure cover cans to the manway's cover plate.Midland drew on its more than 50 years of experience to engineer the kit.
