Loram says its WDS2 is a rugged, reliable and economical wheel detector system that is easy to install, adding that it is optimized for freight traffic and is more cost effective than other products on the market. The WDS2 has been adopted by many Class I railroads as a standard part. Its features include: large sensing area and range; sensor shields; heavy duty CNC machined rail base or web mounting bracket; rugged aluminum mounting bracket for protection from impact; and a large operating temperature range. Also available is a wheel detector interface amplifier module, WDIM, that is optimized for the WDS2 system. It has an optically isolated output and includes test and output inversion switches.
