CPR to conduct emergency response drill in Wisconsin town

advertisement

On Saturday, Canadian Pacific Railway plans to conduct an emergency response drill in Sparta, Wis.

Representatives from city, county, state and federal agencies will practice emergency response procedures with CPR officials. To be held at 8 a.m., the drill will simulate a tanker truck colliding with a train, causing an explosion and derailment. A lone gunman also will flee the scene and "shoot" bystanders attempting to capture him.

The exercise is designed to test multiple agencies' ability to communicate in a crisis, train junior officers and determine if a public notification system operates as intended.

In addition to local police, fire, ambulance and hospital personnel, the drill will include representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Federal Railroad Administration, American Red Cross and Salvation Army.
