The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) last week approved funds for two grade crossing projects in Stephenson and Randolph counties.

The Chicago, Central & Pacific Railroad will install new automatic warning devices at crossings near South Farwell Bridge Road and Holland Church Road in Riddot, Stephenson County. Design and installation is estimated to be $685,952. The ICC will pay 95% of the project cost, with the short line responsible for remaining and future expenses.

Illinois Central Railroad Co. will install new automatic warning devices at crossings located at Boyd Road near Coulterville and Campbell Road near Tilden, Randolph County. The project will cost $949,188; the ICC will pay 95% and the railroad will pay remaining and future expenses.

Both projects are expected to be completed in 18 months, ICC officials said in a press release.
