G3 Canada Ltd. yesterday announced plans to build two new grain elevators, one in Alberta and the other in Saskatchewan.The new grain elevators will be served by Canadian Pacific and CN.G3 intends to build a new primary elevator south of Wetaskiwin in central Alberta on CP's rail line. The facility will be G3's first location in Alberta, company officials said in a press release.The new primary elevator in Saskatchewan will be located near Maidstone on CN's rail line. The new facility is part of G3's plan to expand its grain origination network in the province.Both elevators will have 42,000 metric tons of storage capacity."We're excited to be able to show farmers in the Wetaskiwin and Maidstone areas what G3 has to offer their business," said G3 Chief Executive Officer Karl Gerrand. "Farmers near both new facilities will benefit from G3's service model, providing fast truck turnaround and strong delivery opportunities."Construction on both elevators is expected to begin next month and be completed before the 2019 harvest, company officials said.G3's other other primary elevators underway in Saskatchewan, near Saskatoon and Melville, are in the latter stages of construction and expected to be operational this summer.
