OmniTRAX Inc. affiliate Chicago Rail Link (CRL) earlier this month named the Chicago-area winners of OmniTRAX’s 2022 Safe Shipper Awards, which recognize companies that model exemplary rail safety by shipping or receiving loaded cars without accidental releases during the previous year.
The winners are AOS, a liquids terminal service company providing bulk liquid storage to the petroleum industry; Befesa Zinc, which handles management and recycling of hazardous residues in the steel and aluminum industries; BP North America, one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies; and Heniff Transportation Systems, a supply-chain solutions provider for liquid bulk and food-grade transportation, rail transloading, depot operations and tank cleaning and maintenance.
CRL presented $4,000 in donations to the Chicago Fire Department’s Gold Badge Society and the Chicago Community Policing Office 4th District at a ceremony honoring the award winners, according to an OmniTRAX press release.
CRL provides 72 miles of switching and terminal services in south Chicago, including service to the Port of Chicago and Metra commuter-rail trackage switching to Blue Island Yard.
