G&W acquires Pentalver Transport

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. subsidiary GWI UK Acquisition Co. Ltd. has completed its acquisition of Pentalver Transport Ltd. from APM Terminals.

Pentalver's operations are complementary to those of Genesee & Wyoming's (G&W) Freightliner subsidiary, which provides maritime container transportation by rail in the United Kingdom, G&W officials said in a press release.

The acquisition will enhance G&W's U.K. services by providing rail and road transportation solutions, offering storage options at ports and inland, and improving efficiency and asset utilization of trucking operations, company officials said.

Based in Southampton, U.K., Pentalver operates off-dock container terminals at the seaports of Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway and Tilbury, as well as an inland terminal at Cannock in the U.K. Midlands near large distribution centers. The company also operates a trucking hauling service and provides container maintenance and repair.
