The North Carolina Railroad Co. is one of several partners involved with plastic injection molding company Technimark’s manufacturing expansion in Asheboro, North Carolina, to be served by Norfolk Southern Railway.
NCRR is investing nearly $250,000 to assist with the construction of a new onsite rail spur for NS to serve the new facility, which will increase activity by 40 additional rail cars annually, NCRR officials said in a press release. The railroad’s funds are part of the economic development initiative "NCRR Invests."
Headquartered in Randolph County, Technimark is investing $62 million and creating 220 new jobs. The new facility will produce materials for the health care and consumer services sectors, especially component parts for medical device manufacturers.
"Investments like this are the result of strong partnerships," said NCRR President and CEO Carl Warren.
