Regional Rail L.L.C. recently acquired a majority ownership interest in Diamondback Signal L.L.C., which designs, installs and maintains signals for grade crossings.

Located in Sykesville, Md., Diamondback Signal was formed in January by an experienced group of railroad signal industry veterans, including John Brunner, Kemp Buettner and Kevin Lamb. The company has obtained contracts with 21 railroads and private industries in the United States to provide normalized maintenance and monthly inspections for signalized crossings, and secured a number of crossing signal construction and/or rehabilitation projects, Regional Rail officials said in a prepared statement.

“This acquisition illustrates Regional Rail’s continuing interest to invest in rail-related entities and operations in addition to traditional railroad operations,” said Regional Rail President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Parker.

Regional Rail has been a Diamondback Signal customer since its inception. The rail company also owns the East Penn Railroad L.L.C., Middletown & New Jersey Railroad L.L.C., Tyburn Railroad L.L.C. and Conshohocken Recycling & Rail Transfer L.L.C.
