The passenger-rail market is embracing newer and safer technologies — most notably composite materials — to use on high-speed rail systems, according to a recent report by Research and Markets Ltd.

Aimed at material suppliers, parts fabricators, investors, executives and consultants, "Composites in the Passenger Rail Market 2003-2008, Materials, Markets and Opportunities" reviews the North American, European and Asian passenger-rail market, and includes opportunities for composite suppliers, market size estimates, forecasts, and market breakdown by type and major players.

The use of passenger-rail composites has increased more than 10 percent annually during the past five years and is expected to continue, according to the report, which also includes descriptions of more than 60 composite applications in the rail market.
