Bohr Electronics, an Alderman Enterprises company, has acquired the assets of Central Railway Manufacturing (CRM), a manufacturer based in Jacksonville, Florida. CRM specializes in custom onboard equipment and software for the rail industry. CRM will now be known as CRM, a Bohr Electronics company. As part of the acquisition, CRM's intellectual property and engineering staff will become part of the Bohr Electronics team at its corporate headquarters and production facility in Chatanooga, Tennessee.

Hitachi Rail’s new 8000 series rail cars for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will be displayed at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. WMATA will host the first public preview of its new 8000 series cars March 20 thorugh April 3 during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. The all-electric vehicles will feature 130 seats per pair of cars.

Alstom designed trains equipped with a Cityflo 650 signaling solution, energy-efficient propulsion systems and regenerative braking for the Metro service in Agra, India. The inaugural run was launched today. The trains were manufactured at Alstom’s facility in Savli, under the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bhara initiatives.

Stahl Recruiting’s Anabelle Cormier has been named the 2024 Local Business Person of the Year in Pearland, Texas. “In our local business community, we look out for each other and refer businesses down the street oraround the corner to help make everyone in town as successful as possible,” said Cormier in a press release. Stahl Recruiting provides executive search placement services to the North American rail industry.

Tealinc LLC has opened its 2024 Scholarship application period. The scholarship aims to support and encourage students to pursue higher education, be it through a technical program, trade school, college or university. This year, Tealinc will provide two scholarships of $1,000 each that can be applied toward tuition, books and other education-related expenses. The application deadline is April 30.

The Railway Systems Suppliers Inc. (RSSI) is offering its RSSI Scholarship Program. Eligible applicants are  children, stepchildren, grandchildren and step-grandchildren of employees in good standing who have been a member of RSSI for at least two consecutive years. Applicants should be current high school seniors who attend a North American high school and plan to attend a North American accredited institution of higher learning. The total value of the scholarships is $12,000. The RSSI Scholarship Application packet can be viewed here.
