The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. last month produced its 100,000th intermodal double-stack unit at the Gunderson LLC facility in Portland, Ore. The unit is a "considerable advancement" from the company's first model built in 1985, Greenbrier Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William Furman said in a press release. Since then, Greenbrier has developed 13 different designs for intermodal double-stack units. The company has built 50 percent of all intermodal double-stack rail cars operating globally, according to the release.The PNC Financial Services Group Inc. has reached a definitive agreement to acquire ECN Capital Corp.'s U.S.-based commercial and vendor finance business. The division includes a $1.1 billion portfolio of construction, transportation, industrial, franchise and technology loans and leases. PNC will complete the purchase with cash. Other financial details of the acquisition weren't disclosed in a PNC press release. The acquisition will enhance PNC's existing vendor franchise and add a national platform to support leading vendors in several growing industries, PNC officials said in the release.CSX subsidiary Total Distribution Services Inc. TDSI offers vehicle handling services through a network of automobile-distribution facilities, storage locations and facilities that provide service to Eastern, Gulf and Southeastern ports.Peter Gertler has rejoined HNTB Corp. as senior vice president in a corporate and national strategic business development role, the company announced. Gertler previously worked for the company from 2004 to 2014 as rail and transit market service leader and principal project manager. During that time, he served as a subject matter expert on high-speed and intercity passenger rail. In addition, he has written on the state of U.S. high-speed rail for Progressive Railroading. Before rejoining HNTB, Gertler managed global business and strategic development for a technology firm, where he advised public infrastructure owners on business and technology transformation issues.
