Hanson Alaska L.L.C. received a Col. Frederick Mears Award of Excellence from the Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) for its work on the Tanana River Bridge in Salcha, Alaska. ARRC presented the award to Hanson Alaska and other firms on the project team on Aug. 5. The award recognizes people and projects that move ARRC forward and contribute to the greater good of Alaska and Railbelt communities. The bridge is the first phase of ARRC’s Northern Rail Extension, a project that will create an 80-mile railway between North Pole, Alaska, and Delta Junction, Alaska.

A joint venture between California Surveying & Drafting Supply (CSDS), Harsco Rail, and Stacy and Witbeck/Herzog announced the integration of the Trimble GEDO data collection system for railway surveying with the Harsco Rail Tamper for use on the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit project. The automated rail tamping solution is designed to allow the tamper operator to have a pre-defined tamp run calculated for lift and shift. Stacy and Witbeck is the rail contractor for the SMART rail project.

HDR promoted Janet Gonzalez to transportation sustainability director. Based in Chicago, Gonzalez will work to grow the sustainability practice. Prior to her promotion, Gonzalez was a senior transit planner and will continue in this role. She is project manager for the North-South Corridor project as part of the District of Columbia streetcar program. She also served as architecture and urban design lead for the Tucson streetcar project. With HDR since 2008, Gonzalez is part of the team advancing sustainability initiatives and helping clients address challenges around infrastructure resiliency.

PowerRail Distribution Inc. appointed Adam Earnheart general manager of PowerRail Locomotive Services. He has more than 12 years of experience in the rail industry with a focus on operating and rebuilding locomotives. He has been with PowerRail Distribution for the past two years as a technical support specialist.

David Lowdermilk has been named statewide transportation manager for Pennsylvania at Parsons Brinckerhoff. He has 35 years of transportation industry experience. He previously served as regional vice president at a Philadelphia engineering firm, where he led the transportation practice. From 1991 to 2000, he served in the Philadelphia office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, first as chief highway engineer and then as operations manager.

Auto Truck Group promoted Matt McGowan to director of regional/municipal sales, including truck dealer and small fleets; and Corey Stanley, to director of national account fleet sales. Prior to their new roles, McGowan was director of the Eastern Region, while Stanley was director of account management.
