Hanson Professional Services Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire Naismith Engineering Inc. Closing is set for Sept. 12. The addition of the Corpus Christi, Texas-based engineering, environmental and surveying consulting firm is part of Hanson's national expansion strategy, according to a company press release. Naismith Chairman and President John Michael will become senior vice president at Hanson and will lead business development in Texas.

Metrolinx has selected CH2M as its vehicle technology consultant for the agency's regional express rail (RER) program. CH2M has in-depth experience with diesel multiple units and electric multiple units, as well as firsthand knowledge of Metrolinx's system, vision and goals, according to a CH2M press release. The RER program is part of Ontario's plan to invest 29 billion Canadian dollars in infrastructure over the next decade, with CA$15 billion dedicated to transit in the greater Toronto and Hamilton area.

FreightCar America Inc. has named Jim America vice president of human resources. Before joining the company, he was a human resources executive at Carpenter Technology. He also served as vice president of human resources at U.S. Pipe and Foundry, as well as deputy director of Alabama's State Docks. America started his career at Monsanto and DuPont as a process engineer.

Salco Products Inc. has appointed Tom DeLafosse vice president of engineering and technical consulting services. During his more than 35 years of experience in the rail industry, DeLafosse has worked at Union Tank Car Co., AllTranstek and Watco Supply Chain Management. His Salco responsibilities include managing and mentoring the engineering staff, as well as managing growth of the technical consulting services division.

Retlif Testing Laboratories has named Scott Poggi director of operations. Poggi will oversee daily operations of the headquarters, branch offices and laboratories. He also will manage electromagnetic compatibility/electromagnetic interference and environmental testing at Retlif facilities in New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and New Hampshire. The company provides testing and engineering services for the rail and transit industries
