L.B. Foster Co. has agreed to acquire Chemtec Energy Services LLC, which supplies blending, injection and custody transfer metering skids for the oil and gas industry. The acquisition will expand L.B. Foster's ability to provide engineered solutions for the midstream market where a substantial amount of pipeline infrastructure is still needed, according to a company press release.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is partnering with GlobeSherpa to pilot a new smartphone application for purchasing and using transit fares across the Municipal Railway system. The new app means riders will no longer need to have exact change or rely on fare vending machines to purchase tickets. The pilot is expected to begin in summer.

Ansaldo STS has completed contractual and financing agreements related to Milan Metro Line 4, positioning the company to begin its work on the project. Valued at $315 million, Ansaldo's work will include protection, supervision and control of driverless and unmanned trains; supplying and installing the signaling and automation systems, power supply systems, doors protection, entry gates, ticketing machines and maintenance facilities; and, in collaboration with Sirti, installing telecommunication systems. The project will result in the first driverless metro in Italy equipped with communication-based train control, according to an Ansaldo press release. The line will link the Milan airport with the San Cristoforo rail station.
