L.K. Comstock National Transit, a RailWorks company, will provide transit systems installation and electrical contracting services as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation and upgrade of the Metromover automated people mover system in Miami-Dade County. Working with the prime contractor Alstom, L.K. Comstock National Transit will refurbish 25 guideway switch machines; replace/install new blue light stations and access control at the platform gates; replace train signals; and install new automatic train control (ATC) equipment at 21 ATC rooms as well as new cabling for ATC and fiber optic communication.

Keolis, three public transport authorities from North Rhein-Westphalia in Germany and the province of Overijssel in the Netherlands on Dec. 15 signed an agreement to make certain contractual adjustments and authorize Keolis' sale of its German rail activities to a new shareholder, TEAM Treuhand GmbH (Groupe Noerr). As of Jan. 1, 2022, TEAM Treuhand GmbH will become the new shareholder of Keolis’ activities in Germany via its subsidiary, SG eurobahn UG. The four regional train networks in the west German region of North Rhine-Westphalia will be operated under the new name eurobahn GmbH & Co KG.

Bluejay Capital Partners LLC a specialist in logistics and transportation industry investing, has completed its acquisition of Pacific West LLC, a rail and industrial services business serving the western United States. Terms of the transaction were not revealed. “Our partnership with Bluejay Capital marks the beginning of an important chapter of growth for our company and our dedicated employees,” said Pacific West Chief Operating Officer Dustin Hall in a press release. Hall retains an ownership stake in the business.

The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) recently announced its 2021 Special Award and 2021 Safety Award winners, and the 2022 Hall of Fame Class. Special Award Winners were Large Project of the Year: Mid-Coast Corridor Projects by Mid-Coast Transit Constructors, a joint venture of Stacy and Witbeck, Herzog and Skanska; Small Project of the Year: CSX Florida Improvement Plan Bridge Project submitted by PCL Civil Constructors Inc.; and Field Employee of the Year: Bill Lenhart of RailWorks. Dozens of companies were recognized with Safety Awards. The 2022 Hall of Fame inductees are Chuck Baker, Michael Choat and Stan Herzog.
