Savage Cos. has sold its EnviroServe business to One Rock Capital Partners LLC, which will establish it as an independent company. Savage sold EnviroServe to focus on industrial infrastructure and agriculture projects. As part of the sale, Nathan Savage is retiring as Savage's sector president of environmental and will continue to lead EnviroServe as CEO. Financial terms were not disclosed.

RSI Logistics Inc. announced plans to operate Transtar LLC's Zug Island transloading site in Detroit, which is served by Delray Connecting Railroad Co. The bulk terminal is a central shipping location for multiple commodities reaching the Detroit and Toledo, Ohio, markets. The companies plan to upgrade equipment and expand the existing 15 miles of track at the site and offer shippers the ability to expand their market reach through rail and truck shipping.

Skanska has been contracted by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York to build a new tunnel passageway at the Grand Central–42nd Street Station. Along with the new tunnel, the $74.2 million project calls for the addition of stairways and widening of existing stairways, upgrades to the station's fire alarm system and core tunnel repairs to existing tunnelways. Construction is scheduled to be completed in fourth-quarter 2024.

Rail Vision Ltd. appointed Mark Cleobury as chair. Cleobury is senior vice president of Knorr-Bremse's rail systems division and has more than 40 years of experience in the global rail industry. During his 20-year tenure with Knorr-Bremse, Cleobury has served in roles with increasing levels of responsibility. Cleobury succeeds Shmuel Donnerstein, who will continue to serve as a board member.

Railinc Corp. upgraded its emergency response application AskRail to include railroad milepost and highway crossing location information. The app now provides exact coordinates for mileposts and crossings, which will help first responders more accurately set up parameters around an incident site. The app provides more than 35,000 first responders in the United States and Canada with access to data about what hazardous materials a rail car is carrying to allow for informed decision making when responding to a rail incident.

Duos Technologies Inc. released six new artificial intelligence detection models to be used with the company's rail-car inspection portal. The models enable rail-car operators to inspect automatically the conditions of air hoses, sill steps, hand brakes, wheels and uncoupling levers. The models also can perform automated operational and safety checks related to coupler heights and unsecured pneumatic unloader caps.
