TTX Co. has promoted Marty Thomas to president. Thomas will assume day-to-day leadership of the company and continue to report directly to CEO Tom Wells, according to a company press release. Thomas joined TTX in November 2024 as executive vice president, overseeing supply chain, information technology, finance and fleet management. In his expanded role, he will now also oversee equipment, law and human resources. “Marty has made a meaningful impact at TTX in a very short time,” said Wells. “He’s helped TTX steer through a complex tariff environment, sharpen our fleet strategy and strengthen the commercial efforts driving strong utilization and revenue this year.” Before joining TTX, Thomas spent 29 years with GE Transportation/Westinghouse Air Brake Corp.(now Wabtec) where he held leadership roles.
Hitachi Rail provided its SelTrac communications-based train signaling system for Toronto's new Finch West light-rail transit service, which entered full passenger service on Dec. 7. The SelTrac system enables trains to safely run closer together because the signaling technology provides real-time tracking of vehicles’ positions and speeds, Hitachi officials said in a press release. The 6.4-mile, 18-stop Finch West LRT is expected to serve 51,000 passengers each weekday.
STV Inc. has hired Ashok Nayee as vice president for the firm's Transportation North operating group. Nayee will lead program management and construction management services for rail projects across the Northeast, according to an STV press release. Nayee has more than 30 years of experience leading major rail projects across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. He has partnered with major agencies to deliver programs that modernize infrastructure, enhance mobility and improve resiliency. Nayee has delivered large-scale passenger rail projects through program management, design and construction oversight, project controls, value engineering and innovative delivery methods such as design-build and public-private partnerships, STV officials said.
