CSX Transportation has ordered Trainyard Tech LLC's Classmaster™ hump yard process control system and Routemaster™ receiving yard NX system for the Selkirk Yard near Albany, New York. The technologies are aimed at boosting throughput, safety and reporting, according to a Trainyard Tech press release. The Classmaster system features automatic calibration for the "highest levels of accuracy," while the Routemaster system includes track block protection and event replay, company officials said.Bentley Systems Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire Alworx Inc., provider of machine learning and Internet of Things technologies and services. The addition of Alworx will help advance data collection and analysis, Bentley officials said in a press release. Some of Alworx's bigger business opportunities have involved using data to improve infrastructure asset performance on an industrial scale, said Co-Founder and President Andre Villemaire. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.Railway Supply Institute (RSI) President Mike O'Malley announced the election of the following new board members: Mike Fetsko, president of Wabtec Corp.'s freight and industrial group; Scott Mautino, executive vice president of McConway & Torley; and Daniel Penovich, president of Mitsui Rail Capital. Lott Co.'s foundry and finishing facility have received M-1003 quality assurance program certification and M-1002 C4 tank car service equipment designation from the Association of American Railroads. A longtime supplier of tank car service parts, W.E. Lott has made investments to be compliant with new certification levels when new rules were unveiled in late 2016. The tank car market remains a "key focus" for the company, said President Ric Olt in a press release.G.I. Jobs Magazine has recognized supply-chain services provider Savage as a 2019 Top 10 Gold Military Friendly® Employer. Savage was ranked ninth in its category, among 226 U.S. military friendly employers. The Salt Lake City-based company employs veterans through its Savage Patriots program. Nearly 10 percent of its workforce are military veterans or on active reserve, Savage officials said in a press release.TorQuest Partners late last week announced an investment in Cando Rail Services Ltd., provider of specialized rail support services. Cando Co-Founder Gord Peters said the transaction "marks the next stage of the company's evolution," although a specific dollar amount was not disclosed in a press release. Cando plans to leverage its existing market leadership position with an "enhanced balance sheet and deep access to capital," added Cando Chief Executive Officer Brian Cornick.
