TrinityRail Maintenance Services Inc., a subsidiary of Trinity Industries Inc., has selected a 2,230-acre site in Shell Rock, Iowa, to construct a new rail-car maintenance services facility by 2020's end. Factors in the site's selection included its co-location with the Iowa Northern Railway Co., optimal access to the Class I network and strategic access to the upper Midwest, according to a company press release.

Balfour Beatty has completed construction of a 2.3-mile extension of the Regional Transportation District of Denver's E, F and R light-rail lines. Known as the Southeast Rail Extension during construction, the project adds three new stations: Sky Ridge, Lone Tree City Center and Ridgegate Parkway.

Hanson Professional Services Inc. Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Sergio Pecori has received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. The Ellis Island Honors Society annually recognizes U.S. citizens for achievements in their field and for inspired service to the United States. Pecori and 90 other Americans received medals during a ceremony on Ellis Island in New York Harbor, according to a Hanson press release.

WSP USA and PGH Wong Engineering Inc. jointly completed program management, project inspection, office support and systems integration services for Valley Metro’s newly opened 1.9-mile Gilbert Road light-rail extension.

The Containerization and Intermodal Institute (CII) awarded William Shea, chief executive officer of Direct ChassisLink Inc., the 2019 Connie Award for facilitating the acquisition of major legacy chassis fleets while maintaining oversight of the company’s growth and financial performance. Port of Oakland Executive Director Christopher Lytle received a lifetime achievement award. The awards were chosen following an industry-wide poll, according to a CII press release.

The National Railroad Construction & Maintenance Association's (NRC) board has elected Joe Daloisio of Railroad Construction Co. Inc. as secretary and treasurer. Daloisio will assume his new role at the 2020 NRC Conference in San Diego. Daloisio was first elected to NRC's board in 2013, according to an NRC press release.
