Trinity Industries Inc. has named Eric Marchetto senior vice president of Trinity Industries and group president of TrinityRail. Previously, he was executive vice president and chief commercial officer of TrinityRail. In his new role, Marchetto will have oversight for the company’s rail-car leasing and product segments. The company also separated the roles of chairman and chief executive officer. Leldon Echols, currently presiding director, has been named the company’s non-executive chairman. Timothy Wallace will continue to serve as the company's president and CEO, and as a board member.
HDR obtained a contract from the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority in Austin, Texas, to manage the multi-year implementation of Project Connect, which is designed to enhance existing commuter- and light-rail infrastructure, as well as adopt and integrate emerging technologies, such as autonomous rapid transit. HDR will provide various services, including community outreach and engagement, environmental and engineering reviews, vehicle and technology assessments, and construction management oversight.
The joint venture LAX Integrated Express Solution team recently broke ground on the Los Angeles International Airport’s automated people-mover that would connect travelers from airport terminals to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s light-rail system. Managing partner Fluor Corp. and other joint venture members will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the $4.9 billion project over the next 30 years, according to a Fluor press release. The project is scheduled for completion in 2023. The joint venture also includes ACS Infrastructure Development, Balfour Beatty, Bombardier Transportation, Dragados USA, Flatiron and Hochtief PPP Solutions.
Bombardier has appointed Steeve Robitaille senior vice president of general counsel and corporate secretary, effective May 1. He has more than 25 years of legal and transaction experience. Robitaille has been serving as chief legal officer and executive vice president of mergers and acquisitions for WSP since 2017, and prior to that was practicing corporate law as a senior partner at law firm Stikeman Elliott for more than 20 years.
Teleste Corp. will deliver passenger information systems, onboard video surveillance, intercommunication and public address systems, and LED information displays to Coradia Stream trains operated by Trenitalia in Italy. The deliveries will begin in 2019 and continue the collaboration between Teleste and integrated transportation system provider Alstom, according to a Telestre press release.
New York Air Brake LLC (NYAB) will acquire the business assets of Snyder Equipment Co., a manufacturer of locomotive fueling and servicing equipment and components. The transaction, announced in a NYAB press release last week, would establish Snyder as a division of NYAB and incorporate the company’s existing product lines, sales and manufacturing operations. Complete integration is expected to take 12 to 18 months. NYAB officials said. The acquisition further strengthens the company’s air supply product offering and adds wayside systems and service.
