Wabtec Corp. has completed its acquisition of Frauscher Sensor Technology Group GmbH, an Australian-based leader in train detection, wayside conject control solutions and axle counting systems. The acquisition strengthens Wabtec's digital intelligence business by adding complementary rail signaling technology to its portfolio, Wabtec officials said in a press release. Frauscher has more than 700 employees located in 15 countries. It has installations in more than 100 countries and a significant presence in Europe and India, which will benefit Wabtec's international growth strategy. Wabtec paid 674 million euros in cash for Frauscher and anticipates immediate growth in shareholder value. Frauscher is expected to generate revenue of 145 million euros in 2025, Wactec officials said.
Rail Vision Ltd. has signed an agreement to acquire 51% ownership of Quantum Transportation Ltd., a quantum computing and AI company. The deal is expected to close in late December or early January 2026, Rail Vision officials said. Quantum Transportation holds an exclusive sub license for a pending patent application in error correction technologies owned by Ramot, the technology transfer company of the Tel Aviv University. Rail Vision and Quantum Transportation aim to combine quantum-AI based intellectual property protection and innovation with Rail Vision's existing rail safety technologies to improve anomaly detection, predictive maintenance and autonomous rail operations. Rail Vision will also extend a convertible loan of up to $700,000 to Quantum Transportation at an 8% interest rate to support the company's ongoing operations and development.
neomind, a German design consultancy, and SEKISUI KYDEX, a thermoplastic materials provider, were presented with the collaboration of the year award for their joint effort on designing the IdeenzugUrban passenger trains, for use by the Hamburg S-Bahn rail system in Germany. The award was presented during the RedCabin Railway Interiors Summit, held in Prague, Czechia, on Nov. 25, SEKISUI KYDEX officials said in a press release. The Railway Interior Awards focus on passenger and driver comfort, security, sustainability, accessibility, durability and aesthetics for rail cabins, according to a press release from SEKISUI KYDEX.
