Wabtec Corp. announced the opening of its first European Transit Performance Optimization Center in Derby, England. The new center will help transit sector clients improve operational performance and reduce service costs and lost productivity through real-time monitoring and analytics. The opening represents a milestone as the company expands into transit asset analytics and condition monitoring, Wabtec officials said in a press release.

Thales was chosen by MTA New York City Transit to supply 128 vehicle on-board control units as part of an additional option on an existing contract. The units feature safety-critical, dual-processor computers that help increase performance and reliability of trains, Thales officials said on Twitter.

Aspen Equipment has promoted Cole Lundeen to territory manager in the Iowa and Illinois region for Manitowoc, Grove and National Crane sales and rentals. Previously, Lundeen was an inside sales representative. He has been with the company since 2019. Lundeen has a proven sales record, said Director of Sales Aaron Carlson in a press release.

The Railway & Locomotive Historical Society announced five winners of its 2022 scholarship awards worth $3,000 each.
