Rail supplier news from Wabtec and Wi-Tronix (March 6)

Wabtec Corp. has been approved as a RailPulse certified telematics vendor. The certification marks a milestone in Wabtec's commitment to improving the safety and productivity of rail shipments through its advanced rail-car telematics platform, Wabtec officials said in a press release. "Telematics is an emerging technology in the rail industry, a market that currently lacks real-time visibility over a vast majority of its rail cars worldwide,” said Evan Sevel, Wabtec's vice president-growth and innovation. "With the RailPulse certification, Wabtec’s telematics platform will help advance the adoption of rail-car tracking technology across the rail sector and drive meaningful business outcomes for our customers."

Wi-Tronix has been selected as the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association's Tier 1 exclusive partner for digital onboard solutions. Wi-Tronix’s Violet Edge system with on-board hardware and cloud-based information storage and retention offers short lines the tools to operate locomotives smarter, safer and more efficiently, according to an ASLRRA press release. Wi-Tronix joins five other partners offering exclusive services to ASLRRA members as part of its member discount preferred provider program.
