Rail supplier updates from Protran, RailPros, Pandrol, RailComm, and Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam (May 26)

Protran Technology will provide the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) with its Roadway Worker Protection System, which alerts track workers of an approaching train and operators of worker presence. The Federal Railroad Administration earlier this year designated the Protran system a top safety recommendation, according to a Protran press release.

RailPros Field Services obtained a contract from BNSF Railway Co. for design review of construction documents for work pertaining to the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA). In particular, the documents detail proposed high-speed rail work between Merced and Bakersfield, Calif., on or near BNSF's Stockton and Bakersfield subdivisions, according to a RailPros press release. The review includes documents for 29 grade separations.

Effective Sept. 1, Breen Reardon will succeed Frank Brady as president and chief executive officer of Pandrol USA. Currently director of sales and marketing at the company, Reardon has worked with Pandrol USA for four years. Brady has worked with Pandrol for 33 years, and has more than 40 years of experience in the rail industry.

RailComm appointed Michael Hackney as vice president of products. He will be responsible for the company's smart analytics product platform and other new product initiatives. Hackney has more than 30 years of experience in technology and business leadership, according to a RailComm press release.

Dev Rastogi was named managing director of Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc.'s (LAN) Transportation Business Group. Prior to joining LAN, Rastogi served as a vice president for URS Corp., where she ran the company's north Texas and Oklahoma operations. She has more than 30 years of civil engineering experience, LAN officials said in a press release.
