Rail supplier updates from TTS, BNSF Logistics, Kelso, Alstom and Cubic (Sept. 14)

Transportation Technology Services (TTS) and Siemens Energy Inc. announced an exclusive arrangement to market and operate the KWUX 101, 20-axle Schnabel rail car. The unit was originally designed for specific Siemens transformers, but the pin locations allow for the movement of a variety of the original equipment manufacturer's transformer designs. TTS and its owner BNSF Logistics LLC will manage, maintain and have priority access to the Schnabel rail car.

The Kelso Klincher manway (KKM) was certified and approved for commercial operations by a major crude oil terminal in the Bakken shale oil formation. The design of the adapter allows the loading of both eye-bolted manways and KKM-fitted tank cars with minimal conversion time for the operator, Kelso Technologies officials said in a press release. Additionally, KKM's one-bolt design is designed to provide quicker sealing times at terminal.

Alstom Transport France appointed Jean-Baptiste Eymeoud senior vice president. Slated to assume the role at the beginning of October, he'll work to improve customer satisfaction and maintain the workload of French production sites. Additionally, Eymeoud will ensure the proper execution of projects for France, as well as export projects completed at French sites. Prior to joining Alstom, he worked for Bombardier Transportation.

Cubic Corp. appointed Matthew Cole president of Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS), effective Oct. 1. He had been serving as CTS' vice president and deputy of strategy and business development. Cole joined the company in 2003, and has worked various roles of increasing responsibility. Additionally, Stephen Shewmaker, who currently serves as the CTS' president, was appointed chairman of CTS. Shewmaker plans to retire in 2016.
