Thales obtained a four-year contract from SNCF to maintain ticket validation equipment for the train network in Paris. The network will cover 400 stations and 4,300 equipment and associated systems, with 17,000 interventions needed each year, according to Thales press release. The Thales system is designed to provide permanent tracking of interventions via a web portal.

CSX Technology President Kathleen Brandt has been elected to Railinc's board. Brandt's "experience leading technology initiatives across CSX will be an invaluable asset as the board works to enhance Railinc's ability to serve the freight rail industry," said Railinc President and Chief Executive Officer Allen West in a prepared statement. Brandt's CSX career spans 27 years, and includes key leadership positions in operations and technology.

PowerRail Distribution Inc. named Brad Erickson territory sales manager in Minneapolis/St. Paul. He will be responsible for outside sales and support, including the introduction of PowerRail's new and enhanced products to short-line and Class I customers. Previously, he was responsible for sales and daily operations of an engineering firm, where he worked for 20 years.

STV Senior Vice President Richard Amodei has been named head of the firm's Transportation and Infrastructure Division's Northeast region. He joined the firm in 1999 and has been "instrumental" in growing STV's role in public transportation markets as director of business development for North America, according to a company press release.

Gannett Fleming announced Keyvan Pirbazari has joined the firm as senior program manager in the Transit and Rail practice in the Los Angeles office. The firm also announced David Farley, vice president for the Transit & Rail Systems, has relocated from the Chicago office to L.A. The personnel moves are intended to bolster the firm's transit and rail services in the west, Gannett Fleming officials said in a press release.
