North American Technologies Group Inc. (NATK) subsidiary TieTek recently obtained ISO 9001-2000 certification by meeting International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) quality management systems, standards and guidelines.

The certification applies to designing, manufacturing and supplying plastic-composite railroad ties and other composite parts.

"This reaffirms our commitment to provide a consistent, high-quality, engineered product to meet the requirements of our railroad industry customers," said NATK Chief Executive Officer Henry Sullivan.

A worldwide federation of national standards bodies, ISO requires organizations to establish, document, implement and maintain a quality-management system. To obtain certification, a third party reviews and assesses operational controls, quality monitoring and measurement practices, non-conformance and corrective-action procedures, and record keeping.

TieTek produces ties from recycled plastics and scrap tires at a Houston plant; a second plant is under construction in Marshall, Texas.
