Updates from Alstom, Vossloh, Bombardier, Savi, Traction Motor Service and The Andersons

• Alstom Transport obtained contracts from train lessor Angel Trains to supply and maintain Pendolino high-speed tilting trains for use on the West Coast Main Line between London and Glasgow, Scotland. The order follows an agreement Alstom and Angel Trains reached in May. Angel Trains will lease the trains to private operator Virgin Trains.

• The Vossloh Group has closed the sale and transfer of its Vossloh Infrastructure Services business unit to Eurovia S.A. The deal closed following cartel authority approval. Vossloh Infrastructure Services builds and maintains railroad tracks, and installs overhead lines.

• Bombardier Transportation received an order for an additional 14 FLEXITY Outlook cars from Germany's Stadtwerke Augsburg Verkehrs-GmbH. The agency now has ordered a total of 24 FLEXITY vehicles from Bombardier.

• The Dow Chemical Co. has installed Savi Technology's SmartChain® asset management software on its toxic inhalation hazard tank-car fleet. The technology features GPS, satellite communication systems and sensors affixed to the tank cars, enabling DOW to automatically monitor the location and security status of its fleet.  

• Traction Motor Service Inc. has appointed Joseph Lizik production manager. He will be responsible for electro-mechanical repairs, rebuilds and rewinds, and remanufactured AC/DC motors for rail, transit and heavy industrial applications. Lizik previously held various management and customer service positions at Hudson Machine Works, Bombardier Transportation and Westinghouse.

• The Andersons Inc. signed a letter of intent to purchase a grain storage facility in Reading, Mich., and lease a facility in Jonesville, Mich., from JBS United. The company also signed a long-term lease agreement with Green Lion Bio-fuels L.L.C. for a grain storage facility in Canton, Ill. The Reading facility is located on the Indiana Northeastern Railroad Co.'s line.
