• The Vossloh Group has adjusted its sales and earning expectations as a result of several adverse factors, according to a press release. The group now predicts sales of $1.6 billion for the year, down from $1.7 billion predicted earlier. Company officials attributed the drop to low shipments for China’s high-speed rail lines. Among other factors affecting Vossloh’s business this year: a sales shortfall in Russia, suspension of work on a project originally planned for Libya, and a growing delay in orders placed in southern Europe and Scandinavia.

• Colo Railroad Builders has appointed Mark Jansen vice president and general manager in Chicago. Jansen has more than 30 years of railroad construction and operational management experience. He began his career at Norfolk Southern Railway and has a “wealth of experience” with Class Is, Fortune 500 industrial maintenance, bridge construction, and managing a construction process, said Frank Condurelis, managing director of L.A. Colo L.L.C., in a prepared statement.

• PowerRail Distribution Inc. has appointed James Siano sales manager of the passenger transit group, for which he will be responsible for growing and executing sales and services. He has more than 25 years of service and experience in the rail and transit industry. Siano’s career includes stints at Penn Central, Conrail and Amtrak.

• Faiveley Transport has obtained a contract from Bombardier Transportation to supply door and air conditioning systems for 22 three-car electrically powered passenger trains in Adelaide, Australia. Faiveley Transport will supply 264 doors and 110 air conditioning units. The contract represents the first time the firm will supply door and HVAC systems for a passenger train built for Australia, according to a press release

• ETA Transit Systems and Radio Engineering Industries have formed a partnership to provide intelligent transportation and mobile asset management solutions to the transit industries, according to a press release. Solutions include computer-aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location, traveler information, passenger information and display information systems, video surveillance, vehicle monitoring and diagnostics.

• Green Energy Solution Industries (GESI) has obtained a contract from On-Track Railway Services Ltd. for a large-scale supply of railway ties to be used as feedstock for GESI’s waste wood-to-energy project in Alberta, Canada. The three-year agreement calls for supplying a minimum of 300,000 and up to 1.5 million ties annually to GESI at no cost for use in converting waste wood to energy, according to a press release.
