UP cranked up coal train loadings in October

Last month, Union Pacific Railroad loaded 1,047 coal trains in the Southern Powder River Basin (SPRB) compared with 1,031 trains in October 2010.

In the Colorado/Utah Region, the Class I loaded 267 coal trains, up 30 percent compared with the 206 trains loaded in the year-ago period.

In October, the railroad met 95 percent of National Coal Transportation Association (NCTA) demand in the SPRB and 98.5 percent of NCTA demand the Colorado/Utah Region, according to UP’s latest weekly coal loading performance report.
