The new Union Pacific Railroad-served Heartland Co-op grain shuttle facility in Millerton, Iowa, is fully operational and handling its first train loads, the Class I announced yesterday.
The facility serves farmers in south-central Iowa, expanding their access to key domestic and export markets via UP's network. The development was a shared investment between UP and Heartland Co-op in Iowa agriculture, UP officials said. The total project cost was not disclosed in the press release.
UP announced construction on the site in August 2024. The shuttle facility was built on UP's existing network in Millerton. The facility has 5.5 million bushel grain capacity and serves the corn and soybean markets, according to Heartland Co-op's Millerton facility webpage.
