Video: MxV Rail's Kari Gonzales talks technology/data in railroading

Progressive Railroading recently hosted a virtual summit titled "The Connection of Technology and Data in Railroading." One of the presenters during the three-hour event was MxV Rail President and CEO Kari Gonzales, who discussed the evolution of MxV Rail ("the name represents the formula for momentum because that's what we've always delivered"), as well as the research and test work the organization continues to perform. "One of the unique aspects of railroading, at least in North America, is the concept of interchange," she said. "In order to advance technologies ... and get them applicable across the entirety of the network, we really have to pay respect to the concept of interchange." Gonzales also discussed the Association of American Railroads' Strategic Initiatives Program, and some of the focus areas there within — including the positive train control network and a framework for the future, and emerging technologies.
