Yesterday, CN announced plans to build a $100 million logistics park in Conrich, Alberta, which is located near Calgary — Canada’s third-largest distribution center, according to the Class I.
The 680-acre park will include a state-of-the-art intermodal terminal, a multi-commodity transload and warehouse facility, an automotive compound, and a liquid/bulk transload and distribution facility.
“This facility is part of our program to grow a network of logistics parks that provide seamless and efficient transportation and distribution capabilities for customers, linking their facilities across North America,” said CN President and Chief Executive Officer Claude Mongeau in a prepared statement.
The railroad’s plan for CN Logistics Park is subject to regulatory approval, including an environmental assessment and public review. The Class I expects to open the park in 2013, then shift most of its Calgary yard operations to the new logistics center.
